The advisor provides on-site HSE support to the project group. The primary function of this role is to provide support of our core health, safety, and environment management system. This position will primarily be field based, in support of one or more project teams.
Essential Functions
- Conducts field level orientation for employees and subcontractors;
- Participates and leads safety meetings as required;
- Encourages and promotes a safe work culture with a positive attitude and team centric approach;
- Monitors the performance of work and ensures conformance to Principle Projects Safe Work Practices and Procedures;
- Works with employees, foremen, supervisors and management to identify potential hazards on the work site;
- Performs various levels of worksite inspections, and audits, and follows through with appropriate levels of coaching and support for all corrective actions;
- Proactively identifies leading indicators and trends in the field and communicates the same back to the field and corporate;
- Investigates incidents and near misses with foremen and other key management;
- Communicates established policies, practices and procedures to workers and remain informed on changes provided from corporate.
- Continuously considers opportunities in the safety management program bringing innovative, industry leading best practices and initiatives to the forefront for consideration
- Assist in the management of pre-qualification sites; ISNetworld, ComplyWorks, Avetta, etc.
- Extensive driving to various project locations
- Maintains confidentiality of all Principle Projects Ltd businesses
- Other duties as required
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to perform multi tasks in an environment where priorities can change rapidly
- Demonstrated ability to manage and operate computerized systems
- Excellent time management skills and ability to anticipate and manage a changing workflow
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills including internet use (Microsoft Office)
- In depth knowledge of the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulation and Code
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, show initiative, establish and prioritize tasks
- Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills
- Demonstrated effective communication and problem-solving skills
- Open and committed to further training as recommended
- Ability to work various work schedules/rotations, as required
Qualifications:
- 2 to 5 years of related work experience or combination of relevant education and experience -- industrial construction experience is an asset.
- Completed post-secondary education in OHS (diploma or equivalent) and Human Resources
- Affiliated with ACSA
- Working knowledge of current construction practices and methodology.
- Able to communicate clearly and collaborate with multiple project stakeholders and interpret their needs.
- Capable of identifying issues and generating solutions in moderately complex situations.
- Willingness to contribute actively in team discussions, sharing experiences and ideas.
- Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong computer skills with an aptitude for learning new programs.

**Salary**: $60,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
