**Salary**: $2,757.39 to $3,604.17 bi-weekly $71,967 - $94,068 /year

The Ministry of Municipal Affairs assists municipalities in providing well-managed, collaborative, and accountable local government to Albertans. Our main responsibilities are:

- Funding supports for municipalities.
- A system that strives to ensure appropriate safety standards for the construction and maintenance of buildings and equipment.
- Protections for new home buyers and required licensing for home builders.
- Province-wide support for access to public library services for Albertans.
- Management of about 2.6 million acres of public land in the province's three Special Areas.
- Independent review and decisions on local matters by the Land and Property Rights Tribunal.

**Role Responsibilities**:
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Strategic Planning**: Supporting the development of frameworks, guidelines, templates, and processes that foster cross-ministry collaboration, reduce silos, and enhance transparency. Conducting jurisdictional research and coordinating strategic planning sessions and Executive Team materials to align divisional input with ministry goals.

**Business Plan and Annual Report Development**: Contributing to the preparation of the ministry’s business plan and annual report in line with Treasury Board and Finance standards. Facilitating project planning, drafting and refining content, and developing materials for executive approvals and legislative presentations.

**Operational Planning**: Assisting in the coordination and monitoring of operational planning activities, including support for the Deputy Minister’s performance agreement and divisional input into strategic priorities.

**Performance Measurement**: Supporting the development and evaluation of meaningful performance metrics aligned with government standards and the Auditor General’s expectations.

**Environmental Scanning**: Developing and analyzing environmental scans to identify trends and issues that may impact ministry priorities. Producing reports and facilitating leadership discussions to inform risk mitigation and planning efforts.

**Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)**: Coordinating updates to the ministry’s strategic risk register and preparing risk-related materials for Executive Team review.
Managerial and Communications Support: Assisting the Manager with internal communications, briefings, cross-ministry coordination, and response to action requests. Supporting content development to ensure a consistent ministry voice across planning documents.

University degree in Business, public administration, economics, supplemented by four years related experience. Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.

**Knowledge**
- GoA planning and reporting processes and accountability frameworks, including business and strategic planning, operational planning, performance measurement, environmental scanning, and enterprise risk management.
- Applicable government and ministry legislation, regulations, policies, directives, and guidelines.
- Strategic business and operational planning, and performance measurement theories, principles, methodologies, and techniques.
