A typical day for the Strategic Business Analyst
- Collaborate closely with the VP, Information Services and Technology (IST) on ongoing divisional activities and strategic priorities, including within APS and client-facing.
- Monitor, track and report on progress against the IST divisional (business) plan (which you also created).
- Monitor and manage IST financials to budget, collaborating with managers and directors to provide variance analysis and forecasting, and to manage changes as they arise.
- Support the IST management team in working to achieve shared and team goals.
- Prepare, review and provide quality assurance for all IST presentations and other communication collateral to the Executive Team, APS Board, external partners and peers.
- Consult on IST staff engagement strategies and activities.
- Monitor and report on IST-owned risks, mitigations and KRIs.
- Consult on internal and external communications and communication strategies.
- Manage projects on behalf of the VP’s office and IST management team.
What you bring
- Diploma or degree in business administration, commerce, technology or a related discipline;
- 5 years of progressive leadership experience in strategic planning, business process improvement, and project/change management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong relationship building ability.
- Strong interpersonal skills including negotiation, team building and conflict management.
- Strong organizational ability, demonstrable attention to detail and a goal-oriented approach.
- Ability to see the big picture.
- Passion for taking ownership and driving continuous improvement.
- Strong analytical, creative, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to deal with sensitive issues in confidence, and to deal appropriately with senior levels of management.
- A positive, self-directed individual who will challenge existing processes and organizational inertia to achieve the corporation’s long term goals;
- Ability to motivate and support employees to enable and encourage them to achieve excellence in service delivery.
- Readiness to coordinate with other sections and customers to meet goals and objectives, and to accept responsibility for the outcomes of group efforts.
- Keen ability to identify and remove barriers to allow employees to do their best work.
- Ability to act as change agent and translate goals into practical implementation steps by communicating and gaining commitment.
- Experience in business needs identification.
- Experience in work, resource and budget management.
- Demonstrated leadership and advanced communication skills (verbal, non-verbal, both technical and non-technical), including the ability to relate to all levels within the organization including the senior corporate leaders.
- Ability to understand abstract complex systems from technical descriptions and quickly and easily convey information to non-technical peers.
- Experience consulting and working with non-technical stakeholders to define, clarify and articulate business requirements and associated information needs to meet stakeholder needs.
