At NorQuest College, the Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) program is funded by IRCC. It provides practical language and cultural instruction to newcomers to Canada to help them successfully settle in Canada. Our ultimate goal is to help them build social capital, and empower them to become self-sufficient, independent, and active members of the community. This position is scheduled to start in July 2025 and will continue until March 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension. We are hiring for one full-time position (36.25 hours per week) and one part-time position (18.125 hours per week).

**HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE**:

- You’ll foster communication and encourage collaboration among many different college areas as well as the community for the purpose creating relationships between LINC students and Indigenous communities.
- You’ll establish and maintain relationships with sector partners and Indigenous organizations and community groups, to promote the program and recruit participants.
- You’ll work closely with the LINC program leadership, our NorQuest Elders, Cultural Advisors, Knowledge Keepers and Indigenous staff to ensure that activities are aligned with program goals and objectives.
- Work with our NorQuest Indigenous Elders, Cultural Advisors, Knowledge Keepers to provide Indigenous talking circles, blanket exercises and a variety of Indigenous led cultural activities.
- You’ll create connections and develop relationships between LINC students and Indigenous communities.
- You’ll plan and coordinate Indigenous focused exercises for students in order to respond to student understanding and experience of Indigenous teachings.
- Organize and facilitate presentations and activities from Indigenous groups based on student interest in different aspects of Indigenous culture.

- Postsecondary credential /experience: in settlement studies, social work, social sciences and humanities, or related discipline.
- You have an understanding of equity, diversity, inclusion as well as anti-racism and anti-oppressive practices.
- You have the knowledge of Canada’s colonial history and its impact on Indigenous communities.
- You have experience and ability to communicate effectively with newcomer students of diverse ethnic, cultural, and educational backgrounds for whom English is an additional language.
- You have a strong knowledge of Indigenous community resources

**SALARY**:**$2,078-$2,700 biweekly reflective upon what you bring, AKA your education and experience. This is an AUPE role, the AUPE Collective Agreement Appendix A outlines how pay is determined.
