**About Coast**
Coast Mental Health (Coast) is one of the largest mental health non-profit societies in Canada and operates a large array of innovative housing and community-based rehabilitation services for people with a mental illness living in and around Vancouver. Coast operates in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia providing approximately 1000 people with supportive housing and 4000 clients living in the community with a wide variety of programs and services.

Coast fosters a client-driven, recovery-oriented environment that promotes restoring health, personal growth and a return to society for individuals with a mental illness through advocacy and providing direct programs and services.

Coast Mental Health's **Young Adult Program** offers a range of support services provided by Youth Workers (YW’s) who work one-on-one with clients and in group settings to engage in recovery-based conversations, programs and goal setting.

The Young Adult Program operates out of Coast’s Clubhouse. The Young Adult Program (age 19 to 30) focuses on creating a supportive community based on learning life skills, exploring recreation, and building a peer platform. Members work towards mental, physical, and emotional well-being through support and recovery in mental illness. The Program also prepares participants to discover appropriate and enjoyable future work and volunteer opportunities in their communities.

Many of the participants of the Youth Recovery program will also be members of the Young Adult Program and are encouraged to participate in regular programs and activities including meals, outings and on-site programs. The Youth Recovery program will consist of scheduled skills workshops, trauma informed therapy sessions and activities focusing on:

- _Trauma Informed Therapy Sessions_ (EMDR Therapy)
- _Building Cognitive Resiliency (CBT & DBT groups)_
- _Peer lead outings _
- _Indigenous Centered cultural programming & ceremonies _
- There will also be a micro grant budget for clients to access with administration, planning and reporting requirements. This financial component will be overseen by the program manager who will work with the Coast accounting team to ensure that there is robust tracking of the funds administered. These micro grants are intended to promote an initiative, idea or business plan by participants.**The Position**
The Program Manager of the Youth Recovery Program will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation and management of the program. This program will work in partnership with outside partners and agencies who will be providing onsite and virtual sessions and support. Your goal will be to provide a strength-based, culturally safe and trauma-informed approach to inform all aspects of service delivery for vulnerable youth who have experienced trauma and who may be living with challenges related to mental health and substance use challenges. You will support staff and will be working closely with the onsite Program Coordinator to ensure that the program is meeting the needs of the youth accessing the program. There will also be an emphasis on reporting and collection of data, which will begin at point of intake and will require ongoing data collection in order to capture the recovery progress of participants as they access the services offered. The successful applicant will be employing the principles of psychosocial rehabilitation, harm reduction, motivational enhancement and other evidence-based best practices to assist clients to move forward in their recovery and life goals.

This position leads unionized staff operating within the Young Adult Program. You will establish a positive, healthy and safe work environment for this team, and manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle.

**JOB QUALIFICATIONS**

We are looking for someone with established leadership skills and experience working with unionized staff - knowledge and experience with the Community Subsector Collective Agreement is considered an asset.

Other skills critical to this role include the ability to problem solve, planning and organizational skills, financial management, and strong computer proficiency. Communication skills and the ability to build relationships and engage effectively with partners internally and externally are critical to this role.

We require a minimum of 5 years’ experience in mental health, with experience in Youth Recovery program service and experience working with youth in substance or recovery settings.

A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution would be considered an asset. Coast will consider an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

You must have a current First Aid/CPR certificate, training in Crisis Management, a Valid B.C. Driver’s License and acc
