If you believe in belonging, you’ll find a meaningful career here **Job Overview** We seek a dynamic and motivated Manager of Training and Practice Development to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in strengthening staff competencies by designing and delivering training programs aligned with our agency’s core values. You will collaborate closely with the CQI Navigator, Health and Safety Officer, and Senior Director of Operations, Practice and Standards to assess training needs, develop engaging curricula, and implement learning initiatives for Direct Service Staff. Your responsibilities will include evaluating training effectiveness and continuously refining programs for maximum impact. Success in this role requires a passion for learning and development, strong instructional design skills, and the ability to engage staff at all levels. Creativity, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills are essential. **Brief Job Summary**: This is a full-time salaried position (35 hours/week) for a hands-on specialist who leads by example. The Manager of Training and Practice Development supports staff primarily through training and provides coaching, mentorship, and practical guidance to enhance performance. This role ensures all training aligns with Leo Street’s best practice models and supports employees’ ongoing professional growth. **The Manager is required**: - To be familiar with and adhere to the procedures and policies of the agency. - To be familiar and skilled in working with vulnerable Children and Youth, including those impacted by complex trauma, mental health and addictions. - To deliver the program services according to government standards, acts, CARF standards, and regulations. - To set an example for others through personal behaviour that respects others and models professional ethics. - To work towards a shared vision and uphold the mission statement and philosophy of the agency. - To work closely with a larger team, including SHSS Directors, SHSS Senior Manager, SHSS Case Manager, Health & Safety Officer, CQI Navigator and Senior Director of Operations. **Key Duties and Responsibilities** 1. **Assess Training Needs**: Collaborate with internal teams to identify organizational training requirements and evaluate staff skills, knowledge, and career development goals. 2. **Design and Develop Training Programs**: In partnership with the CQI Navigator and Health and Safety Officer, create engaging curricula and materials covering both soft skills (e.g., communication, teamwork) and technical competencies. 3. **Deliver Core Training Modules**: Facilitate sessions on key topics such as Situational Awareness, Substance Use and Addiction, Non-violent Crisis Intervention, ASIST, Mental Health First Aid, Neurodiversity, First Aid, and Trauma-Informed Practice. 4. **Conduct Training Analysis**: Work with leadership to ensure staff practices align with training objectives through regular analysis and feedback loops. 5. **Lead New Hire Orientation Training**: Deliver comprehensive onboarding sessions to ensure new employees are well-prepared and aligned with organizational expectations. 6. **Facilitate Reflective Practice**: Lead reflective discussions that promote continuous learning, self-awareness, and improved service quality. 7. **Promote Continuous Improvement**: Champion a culture of learning and collaboration by driving ongoing enhancements in practice and support. 8. **Identify Skill Gaps**: Evaluate individual and team strengths to pinpoint areas for development and tailor training accordingly. 9. **Career Path Development**: Translate training needs into programs that prepare staff for current roles and future career progression. 10. **Annual Training Planning**: Co-develop an annual training calendar and teaching plans with the Health and Safety Officer, CQI Navigator and Senior Director of Operations, Practice and Standards. 11. **Instructional Material Development**: Produce high-quality training resources, including manuals, guides, and orientation materials. 12. **Evaluate Training Effectiveness**: Measure the impact of training programs and ensure learned skills are applied in daily work. 13
