**Position Summary**:
Under the direction of the Executive Chef and Sous Chef is responsible for food preparation and portioning of menu items, stock delivery, storage and cleanliness of the kitchen.

**Experience**:
Must be knowledgeable and experienced in food service handling procedures. Restaurant experience in a similar position.

**Education**:

- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Formal training - minimum three years of experience in a similar position, Red Seal a plus.
- Knowledge and experience in creative food preparation, accurate portion control, food preparation in accordance with menus and use of commercial kitchen equipment.
- Ability to read, write and effectively communicate with others in English.
- Successfully completed Food Safe 1, and WHMIS.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and provide leadership when required. As well as being able to work alone.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service to employees and residents.
- Demonstrated ability to show initiative and use good judgment.
- Positive and cooperative attitude.
- Empathy for and understanding of the needs of seniors, their families and their professional service providers.
- Adaptable to change.
- Asian food experience an asset

- Good health
- No allergies to cleaning chemicals
- Able to perform physical work, i.e. lifting, bending etc.
- Must have a pleasant, co-operative and supportive attitude
- Willingness and ability to learn

**Duties**:

- Preparing meals in accordance with the established menus and standards for portion control and quality plate presentation.
- Providing creative input to menus, food preparation methods, and special event menus.
- Assist in storing and receiving all food and supplies.
- Ensure food is safely served, stored and properly labelled and dated after receiving to avoid spoilage and facilitate proper rotation.
- Any other duties as directed by Management.
- Work in compliance with all public health regulations.
- Ensuring the kitchen operates at the highest level of sanitation and safety.
- Monitor and record fridge/freezer temperatures daily.
- Clean kitchen and work area using the clean as you go technique, deep cleaning as needed.
- Any other duties as directed by Management

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $24.00-$27.00 per hour
