**Summary**
We seek a Human Resources Assistant to join our St. Joseph’s Motherhouse team. This role is pivotal in supporting our HR functions and ensuring we maintain a compassionate and efficient workplace environment. The Human Resources Assistant will contribute to our mission by assisting with onboarding processes, employee training, development, and administrative tasks.
This position is being offered under the Canada Summer Job Program.
**Program Overview**:
The Canada Summer Job Program is an exciting opportunity for youth to provide quality work experience in their field and enhance their skills in a hands-on setting.
To be eligible, a youth must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the _Immigration and Refugee Protection Act_ for the duration of the employment** **and**:
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada by relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
**International students are not eligible to participate in this program position.
**Responsibilities**:
- Must demonstrate the ability to set priorities, & achieve results in accordance with the mission, values, and priorities of the organization
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication, ethical judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to be discreet and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Computer literacy - Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Microsoft 365, SharePoint
- Skills in collaboration and teamwork both within and outside of the organization,
- Ability to adapt to change.
- Providing administrative support for the online Training
- Learning Program, in collaboration with the Human Resources Officer and the Administrative Services and Housing Manager.
- Assist with the implementation of the HRIS system (Paymate-Harmony)
- Provide administrative support to the HR department as required.
**Qualifications**
- Proven experience in an administrative role, preferably within human resources.
- Familiarity with HR software is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience in training development programs is preferred but not required.
**Requirements**:
- Understanding of Mission & Values as foundational to the CSJ environment
- Experience generating accurate and concise tracking data
- Experience in working with different cultures
- Understanding of requirements and techniques in recruiting & retention.
- Knowledge and practice in Orientation and onboarding practices.
- Familiarity with current legislative policies and governance
- Graduate of Human Resources Business or Management Program
- Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Full COVID and Influenza vaccinations and other healthcare protocols as per Organizational Policy
**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 8 weeks
Pay: $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
