Job Title: Store Supervisor, Cook Location
Victoria Women In Need Community Cooperative (WIN) is a non-profit community service cooperative that provides programs to support women, trans, non-binary, and Two-Spirit people along their journey between crisis, self-sufficiency, and wellness. We run 5 resale shop locations as well as an online shop to be able to support us in funding our programs and operations.
Type of Position: Full Time (40 hours per week) - Tuesday to Saturday
Location: 1803 Cook Street
Wage Range $19 - $20 / hour (with paid breaks)
This hands-on position plays a key role in ensuring that day-to-day retail operations run smoothly and that goals are met, including:
- Providing leadership for the team of staff and volunteers
- Supervising both the main shop, and the home shop, in reaching store goals and providing excellent customer service.
- Taking a hands-on approach, this role will coordinate day-to-day tasks
- Opening and closing the store, and organizing breaks
- Playing a key role in helping to ensure that the store meets performance goals
- Providing leadership in excellent customer service; greeting customers; promoting the store, making recommendations; helping customers to locate the right merchandise; and dealing with issues as they arise.
- Building and maintaining a positive, empowering and cooperative team working environment,
- Coordinating coverage in the case of absences in coordination with other supervisors as needed
- Processing sales transactions and reconciling store transactions using a POS system, opening and closing the till, and supporting the team with POS issues as needed.
- Handling a large volume of stock, rotating, pulling, merchandising and displaying product items according to merchandising principles and procedures throughout store.
- Overseeing receiving donations of furniture, and furniture pricing
- Promoting the store and ensuring a fun, friendly and supportive shopping experience
- Working respectfully, and in an empowering way with our program participants, ensuring confidentiality and accurate information.
- Providing orientation and training to new staff and volunteers.
- Assisting in implementing changes to store layout and promotions as agreed.
- Ensuring that all store duties are complete at the end of each day, and that the store is set up for the next day, including maintaining a clean and orderly store.
- Ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to regarding all aspects of the store including health and safety.
- Maintaining high store standards and expectations.
Skills and Experience required:
- Must have a minimum of 2 years retail experience, and at least one year of experience as either a keyholder, person in charge, supervisor or assistant manager in a retail environment.
- Previous leadership experience with a team, with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
- Resourceful, positive attitude and an excellent communicator.
- Excellent customer service skills, able to answer questions in a friendly and positive manner as well as work towards positive solutions.
- Able to build empowering relationships with customers, donors and Program Participants that reflect WIN’s values and vision,
- Able to deal with challenging customer service situations calmly, kindly and respectfully, and comfortable de-escalating conflict
- Experience working with people with addiction and mental health issues in an empowering and non-judgmental way
- A good knowledge of second-hand items including clothing, household goods and furniture would be considered an asset
- Well organized with a good attention to detail, and a good sense of how to merchandize stock effectively.
- Knows about and values the work that WIN does in the community - must have an understanding of what WIN is all about.
- Able to work autonomously, and use judgment, initiative and critical thinking skills in problem solving and communication on a case-by-case basis,
- Accurate and dependable in working with cash / point of sale system including cash in / cash out.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team including supervising and leading the team.
Pay: $19.00-$20.00 per hour

**Experience**:
