Investigative Assistant

The CPSO is looking for a motivated individual with strong written and verbal communication skills and a commitment to accuracy and professionalism to join our investigations team. This role contributes to the investigation of complaints by providing administrative support to Investigators ensuring matters are disposed of in a timely manner as mandated by legislation.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Review new files and become familiar with physicians’ background and online profile
- Familiar best practices for investigation file management to assist in maintaining all evidence pertaining to the investigation
- Obtain consents, medical records, and other information at the direction of the investigator
- Review, format, and edit investigation reports
- Prepare physician history for presentation to Committees
- Respond to telephone inquiries from complainants, physicians, Committee members, legal counsel, witnesses, and others at the request of investigator
- Prioritize work and complete within expected deadlines
- Enter details of steps taken and information on enterprise systems
- Responsible for preparing an investigation file for hand over to the legal department post referral, so as to facilitate smooth disclosure
- May be required to assist in organizing large volumes of information into a systematic format
- Arrange meetings and appointments for investigators
- Perform clerical tasks: sort mail, prepares courier slips, photocopying, filing, etc.
- Perform other duties as required.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Post-secondary degree, preferably in health sciences or arts with two (2) years’ related experience
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
- Very well-organized, with a commitment to accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high volume and tight deadlines
- Mature and flexible attitude
- Knowledge of complaints process and investigative principles preferred
- Typing speed of 60 wpm preferred
- Demonstrated expertise and advanced knowledge of Office 365
- Knowledge of medical/legal terminology, health care systems and French language skills are assets
- Equity/diversity/inclusion training would be an asset
Note: It is a fundamental requirement of employment at CPSO that employees reside in Ontario and can attend the College office as required. Must be able to provide proof of double vaccination.
