We are ready to take this game to the next level and need a passionate General Investigator to, investigate suspected illegal, unauthorized and / or unethical practices as they relate to OLG, across all lines of business and shared services. This role is also responsible for ensuring compliance, at the retail level, with the requirements of the regulator (AGCO), OLG Act, regulations, policies and procedures relevant to OLG’s operations and protecting the integrity of OLG.
YOUR ROLE IN THE GAME
Reporting to the Sr Manager General Investigations, you will be empowered to:
- Conduct investigations (including interviews) with respect to external customer matters about OLG-affiliated business, retailers who are allegedly conducting business in an unethical, illegal or unauthorized manner and in accordance with the Corporate Investigations Industry Standards- Conduct investigations (including interviews) with respect to internal OLG matters / employees who are allegedly acting in contravention with internal Codes of Business Conduct, Conflict of Interest Policy, to ensure issues / matters are resolved thoroughly and with integrity- Coordinate with OLG’s AML Compliance Program to conduct investigations (including interviews) of customer transactions and behaviour that may present risks of money laundering- Prepare investigative reports and/or files to ensure the outcome of an investigation is accurately captured to assist reporting the matter to the applicable business unit, OPP or other enforcement agencies (local police or AGCO)- Develop accurate and detailed notes of all activities performed during investigation and properly secure any evidence obtained to ensure compliance and investigative integrity as to withstand legal scrutiny- Enforce terminal suspensions and removals due to a contractual violation to support a robust retailer compliance program- Investigate prize claims that have been deemed suspicious by the Prize Centre to accurately identify rightful ownership while balancing customer satisfaction and the integrity of the investigation- Utilize strong interview techniques from retailers, customers or employees in relation to an ongoing investigation to ensure accurate information is solicited- Assist AGCO/OPP with investigations and compliance issues at retail level, including assistance with requests and provision of information to strengthen AGCO/OLG partnership and communication on investigative matters
Additional Job details:
- Extensive travel (up to 3-4 days per week) within Ontario will be required for field investigations, involving occasional overnight stays. Majority of travel will be within the Hamilton and St. Catherine’s, Ontario region, with occasional travel throughout remainder of Ontario.- Moderate mental stress due to traveling, driving in potentially adverse conditions or remote areas, working alone and constant interaction with the public- Handles complex, sensitive and confidential information and material with good judgment, discretion and tact to protect the integrity and privacy of an ongoing investigation
WHAT YOU NEED TO PLAY
- Work Experience:_ Minimum 5 years of experience in the investigation field involving fraud, computers, corporate and organized crime investigation or related experience. Experience in investigations, statement taking and preparation of Crown briefs, knowledge of the legislation relating to OLG.
- Education: _Post-secondary university or college degree or equivalent in Law Enforcement and/or Security Administration or related field. Knowledge of the Criminal Code as it relates to fraud, theft, forgery and other fraud-related offenses. Knowledge of financial crime typologies including money laundering preferred. Knowledge of OLG Corporation Act, Retailer Contracts, Gaming Control Act, Prize Rules, HR Regulations, Freedom of Information and Privacy Act.
- Critical Skills_: Communication skills are required for verbal and written communication, including effectively communicating interview findings to investigations department and supervisor. Conflict resolution skills are used on a regular basis; frequently involved in confrontational situations where customers are frustrated with the process and/or angry.
