Job Summary: Provides facilitation, coaching, education and advocacy support to parents with children between the ages of zero to six who have witnessed domestic violence. Provides psycho-educational group sessions and one-on-one sessions. Provides emotional and parenting support. Program content is designed to teach skills, which allow parents/caregivers to achieve greater attachment through the developmental phases.

Key Responsibilities: - Responsibilities include: working through a trauma-informed lens facilitating interactive workshops to help parents/caregivers learn strategies to better bond with their child, build a strong foundation of early effective communication and connection with their child, including to help them achieve the milestones of development
- Plans, prepares and conducts group sessions such as workshops or courses or individual sessions to support skill building using techniques such as active listening, conflict resolution, healthy relationships, basic group counselling and basic psycho-educational group methods to resolve identified problems, needs and risks.
- Provides skill building in areas such as parenting skills, issue-specific interventions, basic communication, anger and/or stress management, discipline, self-esteem or self-management techniques or other related topics.
- Recruits and selects participants/caregivers based on their skills and needs.
- Plans and prepares for group sessions in accordance with program manual(s) or guidelines, including the necessary facilities, equipment, supplies and materials are available for the sessions.
- Promotes the program to the community through such venues as posters, brochures, community announcements or presentations.
- Outlines services provided by the program and/or agency. Provides information on and referral to other community service providers, resources and professionals as required.
- Conducts evaluations and obtains client feedback on group effectiveness, facilitation and outcomes. Reports any difficulties to the manager.
- Maintains related records and statistics and provides reports to the manager as required.
- Make referrals to the appropriate program areas, internally or externally;
- Provide one on one coaching sessions, if needed, following completion of interactive workshops
- Develop and maintain relationships with related services programs, community resources, daycare centres, S.D. 42, social services, etc. to identify and address the service needs of clients
- Provide community education and agency work
- Keeps up-to-date with program and agency policies, procedures and practices
- Prepares and submits all reports, service summaries and other program documentation requested in a timely manner. Maintains and provides statistics and reports regarding service delivery as required. Works with the TCT WISH database system to maintain client files and data.
- Engages with and updates/revises the intake process and procedures using the CAPC program as the recording vehicle for data collection in the WISH data collection system
- Keeps current on all agency program mandates to ensure appropriate referrals are accepted on behalf of the agency and directed to the appropriate program for service delivery in a timely manner
- Participates in the evaluation of the CAPC program semi-annually, or as needed from time to time, and provides recommendations to their direct supervisor for changes / shifts / enhances to the program
- Participates in various processes necessary to carry out and achieve the Society’s mandate, such as, but not limited to, collection and analysis of data in WISH, and performing continuous quality improvement tasks.
- Performs other related Agency duties as directed by Program Manager

Training and Experience
- Two (2) years + recent related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Strong verbal, written and facilitation communication skills with specialized training, knowledge and skills service delivery from a trauma informed perspective
- Assessment skills and demonstrated experience in assessment techniques
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated cultural and inclusion competencies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of community resources.

Qualifications:

- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in a related human/social service field from an institution of recognized standing. A coaching certification is an asset.

- Valid CPR certificate (including children)
