Assistant Production Manager

The Assistant Manager, reporting to the Operations Manager, is responsible for ensuring the coordination and accountability of Supervisors in overseeing production activities. This role involves verifying accurate order entry in the ERP system, arranging production schedules, enforcing quality and food safety policies, and managing various operational tasks to ensure efficient and compliant production processes. The Assistant Manager also handles conflict resolution, training programs, and continuous improvement projects, while ensuring proper documentation, equipment operation, and product quality standards are met.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Order Management**:
- Verify correct order entry in the ERP system and address any discrepancies.
- Confirm orders are selected and printed before invoicing, ensuring accuracy.
- **Production Coordination**:
- Arrange production schedules according to pickup schedules for fresh products.
- Ensure Supervisors enforce the use of Pre-op at shift start and verify paperwork completion.
- Monitor CCPs, enforce quality and food safety policies, and manage product recalls and CAPAs.
- **Supervision and Coaching**:
- Coach Supervisors on attendance issues and complete event records for Team Member issues.
- Ensure communication with Supervisors and line operators to address problems promptly.
- **Quality Assurance**:
- Oversee product quality checks, including weights and packaging.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and Team Member safety policies.
- **Conflict Resolution**:
- Implement conflict resolution strategies within the bakery.
- **Safety and Sanitation**:
- Conduct accident investigations and monitor CCPs.
- Ensure equipment sanitation and screen visitors/contractors according to SOPs.
- **Continuous Improvement**:
- Oversee continuous improvement projects and special assignments.
- Conduct regular audits and update reports and records in Navision.
- **Training and Development**:
- Conduct training for new operators, mixers, and supervisors.
- Oversee training programs, identify gaps, and make recommendations.
- **Performance Management**:
- Conduct annual performance reviews and summarize findings with the Operations Manager.
- **Availability and Oversight**:
- Be available 24/7 by phone for emergencies and cover duties in the absence of other Supervisors.
- Monitor production planning cycles, schedule production, and troubleshoot issues.
- **Documentation and Reporting**:
- Complete daily reviews of event records with HR and ensure practices are maintained.
- Update OEE reports, labels, and recipes in Navision.
The Assistant Manager plays a vital role in maintaining operational efficiency, quality standards, and compliance within the bakery, ensuring a smooth and productive workflow across all shifts.
