Methods Analyst

We are looking for a Methods Analyst (8 month contract) for our facility in Cambridge, ON.
JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the Focused Shop Manager - DSC (Dry Storage Containers), this role entails providing process development and technical support to Shop Operations in areas such as design, testing, production, operation of equipment and systems.
COMMUNICATIONS
- Work with cross functional teams to develop technical documents.
- Work with vendors to clarify and revise technical specifications to establish procedures to complete the contract and comply with code requirements.
- Assist with resolving any customer questions regarding shop documents and records arising from History Docket reviews.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Process Development
- Develop processes in support of manufacturing to provide a timely, accurate and detailed technical direction to support budget, quality, schedule, code compliance and customer expectations.
- Creation and development of organizational inventory systems to streamline purchasing activities, create efficiencies for all relevant parties, track consumption rates for budgetary purposes and avoid schedule delays due to lack of stock.
- Creation and development of organizational systems to establish baseline schedules, shipping schedules, provide up-to-date contract progress and facilitate other scheduling tasks in order to improve schedule compliance.
- Creation and maintenance of tools to organize contract data.
- Creation of visual aids (diagrams, flow charts, etc.) to help communicate contract structure and requirements to shop personnel.
Testing
- Assist in the setting up of tests, using a variety of test materials and equipment.
- Create production orders for one-off and commissioning tests to ensure compliance with contract and code requirements.
- Execute some arts of field testing, as well as record test results to facilitate comparison with defined standards and make note of unusual occurrences which may have significant impact on contract.
- Record all in-house concrete results and analyze vendor provided test results for compliance with contract requirements.
Technical Documentation
- Develop technical documents with cross functional teams as well as clarify and revise technical specifications with vendors to establish procedures to complete the contract and comply with code requirements.
- Creation of SAP production orders and shop travelers from scratch, based on applicable documentation (MITP, SIS, WPS, drawings and all relevant specifications) and consultation with all relevant parties (project management, shop management, engineering, QC & shop operators).
- Creation of contract close-out documentation based on applicable specifications and customer requirements.
- Revise shop documentation and production orders as required and expedite outstanding CRs which may affect schedule.
- Coordinate with and assist Quality Engineering in creation of MITPs to ensure compliance with applicable specifications, code requirements and reflection of actual production process.
- Working directly with Buyers and Project Management in order to determine appropriate contract quantities to ensure adequate supply of parts/consumables for project completion based on EQRs, project technical specifications, code requirements and BOMs. Submittal of all material requisitions.
Additional Duties
- Performance of all Source Assurance receiving report document reviews for DSC components (ensure materials meet code requirements and specifications of VTS). Ensure fast turn-around time for delivered parts while reducing vulnerability to company-wide backlogs.
- Keep track of schedule progress of each contract and component and relay information to Project Coordinator in order to allow them to create their weekly Dashboard.
- Assist Quality Records and Quality Engineering in resolving any customer questions regarding shop documents and records arising from History Docket reviews.
- Provide customer inspectors all required contract related information on demand.
- Investigate and resolve any questions/issues brought forward by customer inspectors during customer witness points.
- Verification of all production documents for completeness and code compliance prior to customer review.
- Creation of organizational systems to track labour hours, analyze labour budget compliance and facilitate timesheet creation while improving accuracy and eliminating errors.
- Create systems to continuously improve shop efficiency and assist management, on request.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- College Diploma (Technical, Manufacturing Engineer Technology, etc.) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Requires understanding of reference materials and standards.
- Must be able to maintain good attention to detail on an on-going basis.
- Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must be self-driven and self-motivated.
