**SALARY**:$45,000.00 to $60,000.00 DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
**REPORTS TO**:COMMUNITY RECOVERY MANAGER
**1.0 PURPOSE & SUMMARY**
This position would be responsible for coordination of safe and effective Emergency Management support, and for the review, maintenance, and implementation of the Semà:th Emergency Response and Community Preparedness. In addition, to focusing on coordination of critical community and staff training and educational awareness. This position will assist with liaising with external Emergency Management Government and non-Government organizations and Stakeholders. The Emergency Response Coordinator reports directly to the Recovery Manager and will work within the SFN Emergency Program. All responsibilities are governed by the policies and bylaws of the Semá:th First Nation (“SFN”).
**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Implement annual seasonal training for the community and staff;
- Coordinate Community Awareness Events, Preparedness Week, Shakeout;
- Take Training provided in Mid-River EPS, plan for training in community for staff and community members personal preparedness;
- Prepare grab and go bags and educate and support Elders on evacuation procedures and Emergency Support Services;
- Attend collaborative meetings with partners, Emergency Planning Secretariat, Fraser Valley Regional District, Emergency Management Climate Readiness, First Nation Health Authority, First Nations Emergency Services Society and other Mid-River Communities;
- Assist with proposal development for Emergency Response Equipment (Emergency Operations Center, Signs, Training Materials, Emergency Support Services supplies);
- Track and maintain Community and Staff Emergency Management training logs;
- Track and maintain Emergency equipment and supplies;
- Assist and support the development, delivery and maintenance of preparedness, prevention and community education sessions, workshops, and materials;
- Set up the required organizational structure to ensure the Emergency Operations Center is staffed, organized, and established for effective teamwork during an emergency event;
- Community after-hours Emergency contact;
- Coordinate Emergency Program Committee;
- Perform other duties as required.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Completion of High school Diploma and/or related post-secondary education;
- Experience in working with First Nations communities and/or organizations is an asset;
- Working knowledge of Emergency Support Service components and procedures is an asset;
- Working knowledge of office procedures, records management, and document processing;
- Flexibility, in terms of work schedule, to accommodate operational need - Evening work if needed;
- Volunteer experience working in an emergency management role;
- Completion of, or willingness to complete, Emergency Management courses;
- Knowledge of Local Government Operations a strong asset;
- Passion to learn new skills and adapt to challenges;
- Possess a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License;
- First Nations descent is considered an asset.
