The BCTF office building is situated in close proximity to the Canada Line and other major transit routes in a central Vancouver location. **This is an in-person position based out of 550 West 6th Avenue, in Vancouver.**

**Function and Purpose**

The Help Desk Technician’s role is to provide a single point of contact for users, both internal (BCTF staff) and external (Federation members with remote access to BCTF systems and information), to receive support and maintenance so that they can accomplish their tasks. This includes receiving, prioritizing, documenting, and actively resolving user help requests in a timely and accurate manner.

Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostic and help request tracking tools, as well as require that the individual give in-person, hands-on help at the desktop level.

The role also includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all Federation computer hardware and equipment to ensure optimal workstation performance.

**Required experience**

The Federation requires a highly motivated and self-directed individual with three (3) years directly related experience, who brings keen attention to detail to all assignments, and who demonstrates excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.

- communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
- effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- explain and clarify technical procedures and instructions
- maintain courtesy and patience in high-pressure environments

- work in a team oriented, collaborative environment.

**Required education/training**
- College diploma in the field of computer science, information systems, or software engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Certification or designations appropriate to the role and the technologies planned or implemented by the organization.
