**Overview**
**Title**: Accounting Assistant
**Status**: Permanent Full-Time
**Hours of Work**: 35 hours Monday to Friday; shift flexibility is required to meet the needs of the organization.
**Rate of Pay**: $24.06
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Accounting Assistant works to provide support to the entire Finance Department by performing tasks such as processing transactions, preparing reports and budgets, working with other organizational departments to gather accurate data, and other duties as assigned. This role requires strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to stay organized, ahead of deadlines, and to support all members of the organization. The accounting assistant will need to be able to work in a team environment and independently, with mínimal supervision.
**Role Requirements**
- Completion of a minimum of 2 years in an accounting program.
- General knowledge of basic GAPP practices, accounting, and financial principles
- Demonstrates a high proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs, especially Excel (Knowledge of different functions, data mapping, and pivot tables)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional time management skills and the ability to stay organized with strong detail orientation and data accuracy
- Accounting Designation considered an asset
- Knowledge of Great Plaines Accounting Software and Property Management considered an asset
**Role Responsibilities**
- Will need to complete the full processing of the accounts receivable and accounts payable
- Provide the finance team assistance with processing month, quarterly, and year-end reports
- Use attention to details skills to perform account reconciliation and identify any discrepancies
- Provides assistance to the team with property management
- Working with CCIM and GoldCare databases and other information sources to create reports and graphs in Microsoft Office programs
- Work with other departments to process different payroll and finance forms and assist with smooth operations
- Ability to confidentially handle multiple sources of sensitive employee and organizational data
- Required to meet multiple deadlines while handling competing responsibilities and changing priorities
- Using critical thinking and problem-solving skills to stay on top of conflicting projects and to support team members
