**Job Summary**:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Community Support Services, this position is responsible for the coordination and delivery of recreation and wellness programs for the tenants of John Rhodes Residence (JRR) and other satellite buildings.
**Duties & Responsibilities**:
- Adhere to regulations under the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and other applicable Regional policies and protocols that dictate the expectations for the handling of confidential information.
- Plan, organize, implement and evaluate, small and large group social, physical, cultural, educational, and recreational activities for tenants including special events, and outings.
- Work closely with the Community Wellness Hub team to collaborate on programs and ensure a diverse range of activities and supports are being offered.
- Assist tenant volunteers and educational placement students with recreation programming.
- Provide assistance to individual tenants in need of supportive intervention and referrals.
- Network and collaborate with community partners, researching and promoting relevant community events.
- Participate in relevant community programs and events.
- Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement activities taking part in applicable staff meetings.
- Prepare, create and display activity calendars, posters, forms and statistics.
- Monitor budget through purchasing, and submission of applicable expenses.
- Keep knowledge base current including best practices and current trends and transfers new knowledge into practice.
- Provide excellent customer service, communicating effectively with tenants, community partners and co-workers.
**Additional Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Collaborate with the Supports Services Coordinator in the planning and promoting of programs and events.
- Work with The Willow Foundation to generate funding requests, collect testimonials and submit funding reports.
- Ensure the confidentiality of all tenant information.
- Follow safe lifting and all health and safety and Infection Prevention and Control measures procedures for self and others as applicable.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
**Skills & Qualifications**:
**Essential**
- Degree or diploma in Recreation or Gerontology or similar discipline is required.
- Three to five years’ experience in planning and implementing recreation programs with seniors and disabled adults.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills including strong collaboration skills are essential.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment is essential.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Proficient computer skills in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Experience working with volunteers.
**Preferred**
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.

- The position has physical demands which include lifting, pushing and pulling.
- Flexibility in work schedule for evening and weekend work as needed.
- Travel will be required and the incumbent must provide their own transportation.

- Current original and acceptable Vulnerable Sector Check (obtained within the past six (6) months) before the first day of employment.
