Research Assistants are normally students, in a University of Winnipeg undergraduate program, employed to assist with tasks related to research. Work is performed within defined guidelines and under supervision of a more senior researcher or faculty member.

**Position Overview**:
For nearly 20 years, Manitoba's guiding assessment policy has been rethinking classroom assessment with purpose in mind: assessment for learning, assessment as learning, assessment of learning. The policy provides a framework for extending thinking, to confirm and to guide changes in effective assessment practices, and to foster professional learning. Yet the landscape of classroom assessment has shifted significantly in the past 2 decades. Teachers are called to navigate advances in classroom assessment research, top-down assessment policies, lingering effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as widespread technological changes like ubiquitous access to devices and the opened floodgates of generative artificial intelligence.

This project examines the current state of classroom assessment practices and policies in Manitoba to chart the future of classroom assessment in a changing world. Working with an experienced assessment researcher, the work study position will support the initial stages of a research project examining classroom assessment practices to drive the next 20 years of classroom assessment in Manitoba.
