As a **Product Development - Testing, Research & Development Specialist**, you are a vital member of the Product Development team focused on the testing and certification of new and existing products and research of new technologies.

**Duties**:

- Oversee annual product re-certification plan
- Development and execution of certification test plans for new product launches
- Create test drawing packages
- Take part in unit pre-testing, assisting Designers with root cause analysis and solution generation
- Witness testing of products at third party facilities as needed, travel will be required
- Assist in developing annual testing related budgets
- Stay current with industry related codes and certification changes & create quarterly report
- Involvement in industry groups as needed
- Assist Lab Technician with installation of test units into test frames as needed
- Research of new technology for potential future implementation as directed
- Review and testing of new technology for potential future implementation
- Run thermal performance software on potential design solutions as needed
- Effectively communicate with test labs, Industry groups, internal and external customers
- Promote a continuous improvement culture within the organization

**Requirements**:

- Eligible for (or registered) as an EIT with APEGM, **or **Diploma (or working toward) - Mechanical/Structural Engineering Technologist, **or **other related post-secondary education or related experience
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel & Wrike, AutoCAD, Inventor 3D modeling
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Strong oral and written English communication skills with report writing skills
- Strong root cause analysis problem solving skills
- Strong work ethic and ability to work in a team environment
- 5 years design engineering or testing lab related experience
- Mechanically inclined
- Able to run FEA - Structural analysis of parts and assemblies

**Assets**:

- Experience in both residential construction and manufacturing environments
- Knowledge of Loewen product and product design or other fenestration manufacturers
- Experience in wood, aluminum & fiberglass manufacturing processes
- Leadership skills
- Materials and processing knowledge of wood, aluminum, fiberglass, vinyl, etc.
