As a Research Social Planner, you will lead and conduct social research to support recommendations for social planning, policy and program development and implementation. Primary duties include:
- Design and manage innovative program, policy or issue-based research and evaluation projects.
- Oversee Social Research Policy Analysts in executing research activities.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis and interpret findings in recurrent and one-time reports and presentations for a wide variety of audiences.
- Analyze information, write reports on social issues, and disseminate information collected and analyzed by others (for example: educational institutions, Statistics Canada, think tanks, consultants, governments).
- Collaborate and consult with interdepartmental partners around shared outcomes and data collection, including program evaluation and measurement advice.
- Provide technical consultation and research methodology best practices to community partners and other business units within The City that is professional and easily understood.
- Represent the department and/or business unit on planning bodies and interagency committees on research matters, data development standards, trend analysis, and findings that result in recommendations.

**Qualifications**
- A master's degree in social sciences or a related discipline with a social research and policy emphasis.
- At least 3 years of experience in interdisciplinary research, evaluation, and policy work in an applied human services setting.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high quality deliverables (reports, presentations, evaluation frameworks, data visualization, and briefing notes) for non-technical audiences is required.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel, statistical analysis software such as Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) or Statistical Analysis System (SAS) and survey design.
- Knowledge of large datasets and disaggregated data used for community indicators and benchmarking such as Census data.
- Previous experience in leading or executing complex evaluations/reviews in a government setting would be considered a strong asset.
- Previous experience working across jurisdictions and with multiple partners would be considered an asset.
- Project management experience and a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation would be considered assets.
- Experience in Anti-Racism research would be considered a strong asset for this role.
- Success in this position requires strong communication, problem-solving, and adaptability skills.
- You are highly motivated with the ability to work collaboratively and under tight timelines to meet client needs.

Compensation: Pay Grade 13 $49.32 - 66.00 per hour
Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day
work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
