**JOB SUMMARY**

The Coordinator, Data, Research & Policy is responsible for coordinating activities that enhance data management and allow for a detailed analysis of the commercial transportation industry. This individual will assist in the development of data-driven projects that align with AMTA’s strategic plan and mission, vision, values and will contribute to the development of industry reports. The Coordinator, Data, Research & Policy will also provide technical data analysis expertise and research planning knowledge to support data collection and analysis processes for AMTA research projects.

In support of AMTA government advocacy, the Coordinator, Data, Research & Policy will conduct research on public policy issues as it relates to commercial carriers. Using this research, the individual will support the development pf policy positions packages for senior leadership.

**PRIMARY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Data Management**:

- Supporting data sourcing, aggregating, and summarizing for AMTA’s annual industry reports
- Developing and implementing data analyses, data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality
- Acquiring data from primary or secondary data sources and maintaining databases
- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
- Providing technical data analysis expertise, research planning, and documentations knowledge to develop data driven reports for industry
- Defining new data collection and analysis processes for AMTA research projects

**Research & Policy**:

- Conducting research and analysis of public policy issues as it relates to commercial carriers
- Providing advice and supporting the development of Policy Position packages for the AMTA Executive and Board of Directors
- Identifying and undertaking Industry Advancement department policy initiatives

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**

**Education**:University degree in a field related to the position (e.g. Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Management or Statistics, Business Administration, etc.), or equivalent experience.

**Experience**:

- Minimum 4 years’ proven work experience as a Data Analyst or Business Data Analyst
- Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
- Experience utilizing analytical skills to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
- Application of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc.)
- Development of reporting packages (Business Objects etc), databases (SQL etc), programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks)
- Report writing and presentation findings
- Preference for individuals with experience leading and managing research activities
- Preference for individuals with a strong understanding of government policy, legislation, and standards as it related to commercial carriers
