Community Support Worker

We are currently hiring a community support worker for a permanent part-time (34 hrs/wk) position for our Supported Independent Living Program. This program assists individuals living independently in their own home with daily life skills development such as: Home management, meal planning, shopping, recreation, leisure, community involvement, and crisis support. This may include but is not limited to assisting with budgeting, emotional support during difficult times, and support during medical appointments.
The goal of the program is to assist individuals to achieve/maintain the greatest degree of independence and quality of life possible.
**The days & hours of this position will be**:
- **Monday 9:00am - 4:00pm**:
- **Tuesday 9:00am - 4:00pm**:
- **Wednesday 9:00am - 4:00pm**:
- **Thursday 9:00am - 4:00pm**:
- **Friday 9:00am - 1:00pm**
**The successful applicant must be available for all shifts every week.**
- Grade 12 and one (1) year recent related experience
- Valid BC Class 5 driver’s license
- Ability to deal with others effectively
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to teach
- **ability to interact effectively with individuals
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Strong written and oral communication and problem-solving skills.
- Competency in basic computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, and the ability to complete administrative tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
- Must have the ability to work as a team and independently.
- Responsible for writing and monitoring person centered plans and develop goals in conjunction with the individual.
- Responsible for maintaining up-to date documentation as required.
