Community Roots continues to expand to meet service needs and find ourselves needing to add to our amazing support team.

Our focus at Community Roots Support Services is client centered; we work as a team to help provide our clients with the best support in helping achieve their goals and improving their overall quality of life.

**Currently seeking 1 part time staff to support a client on a one to one basis for two 4 hour evening shifts a week. Support will primarily occur in the individuals home, located downtown Victoria. Some personal care required, such as help toileting, washing face, etc. This has been described as fairly easy in terms of personal care needs by those who support her currently.**
- **The scheduled shifts are Monday and Thursdays, from 5pm-9pm, with potential to pick up additional shifts if desired. **_

The individual being supported is very easy going with no mental health concerns or addictions. They are very scheduled and content to take part in various activities, such as trips to get coffee, walks in the park, etc. They use a wheelchair when out in the community, though are able to walk with assistance at home as balance is an issue. They are verbal, though the speech can sometimes be difficult to understand and repetitive. Located near Beacon Hill Park in Victoria BC.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Support 1-1 in the home
- Assist with some light personal care (brushing teeth, mealtimes, toileting).

**Requirements**:

- Demonstrated experience in providing some support and personal care to vulnerable populations,
- BC Criminal Record Check Clearance
- Valid First Aid Certificate
- Up to date Covid-19 Vaccinations, as per the guidelines for healthcare workers

**Abilities and skills**:

- Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate with a team
- Ability to keep focused and calm in challenging situations
- Good communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Understanding of Traumatic Brain Injury an asset

Pay: $25.05-$25.91 per hour

Expected hours: 8 - 12 per week
