**Westhills Equine Veterinary Services' reproduction department is growing We are seeking a**full-time seasonal Recipient Mare Assistant** to coordinate the activities of our herd and provide mare handling support for our Reproduction team. This is a unique experience for those with horse-handling experience and an interest in equine reproduction.**
Westhills EVS is located 10 minutes west of Stony Plain (Alberta, Canada) or 30 minutes west of Edmonton and is easily accessed off TransCanada Highway 16 on Range Road 25. You must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation as we are not on a bus route and you will drive between our main site and the land where the recipient mares are located.

This position commences in March and ends in mid to late August annually. Though it is a seasonal position, our goal is to return our seasonal team annually or retain them with the core team year-round if a position is available. One of our core values is Education.

**SCHEDULE**:Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm or 6pm (height of busy season you will be working until 6pm)
**REPORTS TO**:Reproduction Department Manager/ Owner
**RATE**:$17/hour (paid bi-weekly)

**JOB SUMMARY**: The core responsibility of this position is to track and manage the care of our recipient mare herd to ensure that they receive their routine floats, vaccines, deworming and farrier work. You will also support out Reproduction team by assisting the Vets and Interns with checking in mares, bringing mares in and out of the reproduction barn and interacting with clients. *FULL JOB DESCRIPTION ATTACHED*

**MUST HAVE**:

- horse handling experience (stallion experience not required)
- a valid driver's license and vehicle
- excellent organization skills
- excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- good physical stamina - standing, walking, sitting, lifting up to 50 lbs
- the ability to vary your hours +/- 10 hours per day to account for the peak of the season through to seasonal decline

**SOFTWARE**:

- HVMS - vet software (will train)
- WhatsApp
- ADP Workforce Now (schedule, time clock, etc) - will train

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:

- Two locations (10 minutes apart)
- Indoor - barn at recipient herd location and reproduction barn at our main location
- Outdoors - bringing horses in and out
