**Westhills Equine Veterinary Services (WEVS) is seeking someone who will work as a Mare Handler for the 2025 breeding season. This role starts at the beginning of April and wraps up mid to late August. You will work 7 am to 7 pm on a 4 on/4 off schedule. **Yes - 4 days off in a row**

**About Us** - WEVS is a multi-doctor equine practice located 10 minutes west of Stony Plain, Alberta (35 minutes west of Edmonton). We offer a variety of services including preventative medicine, dentistry, reproduction, sports medicine and emergency care. Our facility offers stocked treatment areas, a large, heated arena for lameness exams and exercising horses year-round, numerous 24-hour monitored stalls for hospitalized patients, covered outdoor pens, a round pen and a complete lab with several in-house capabilities.

**The Role**:

- Working as a part of our equine reproduction team you will be responsible for:
**Mare Handling**
- Catching and handling recipient mares as needed or directed.
- Catching and handling client mares as needed or directed.
- Handling foals for neonatal exams and treatments.

**50%**

**Patient Care**
- Assistance with admitting mares and foals at side to the reproduction department.
- Medication administration (if skills allow for this)
- Preparing mares for diagnostics, treatments and procedures.
- Medication preparation as required.

**30%**

**Cleaning**
- Clean and restock recipient mare barn.
- Daily cleaning duties in repro clinic.

**15%**

**Other**
- Attend daily toolbox meetings.
- Attend monthly staff meetings.
- Assist and train new mare handlers as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

**5%**
