Toronto, Canada Wanasah: Mental Health Services for Black Youth Full time

**Contract Type**: Independent Contractor

**Position Summary**:
Wanasah is seeking an experienced Clinical Supervisor to provide clinical supervision and support to our team of psychotherapists and mental health professionals. This independent contractor position involves offering clinical oversight, ensuring compliance with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) and/or other relevant standards, and providing guidance on complex cases. The contractor will be responsible to the Program Manager. It is expected that on average 2-4 hours of supervision per month will be required.

**ABOUT WANASAH**

Wanasah is a new mental health agency created to address the urgent mental health and addictions needs of Black youth and their families through the provision of effective Black-centric mental health services in the community. Wanasah recognizes the need for inclusive, trauma-informed care with meaningful incorporation of spirituality and community voice in its programming. We work within an anti-racist, anti-Black racism and anti-oppression framework that incorporates principles of intersectionality. Wanasah is based in Regent Park, Toronto.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Clinical Supervision and Support**:

- Provide clinical supervision in individual, dyadic, or group formats, using self-report, live observation, or thematic methods.
- Engage in a supervisory relationship aimed at promoting the professional growth of the supervisee, enhancing their safe and effective use of self in the therapeutic relationship, discussing the direction of therapy, and safeguarding client well-being.
- Conduct supervision sessions either virtually or in person, depending on the needs of the supervisees.
- Discuss and establish supervision agreements, ensuring clear communication of expectations and objectives between the supervisor and supervisee.
- Define the scope of client information to be shared between the supervisor and supervisee, ensuring that clients are informed about the supervisory relationship.

**Compliance and Ethical Practice**:

- Ensure that clinical practices align with CRPO, CNO, OCSWSSW standards and other relevant regulatory bodies as appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality of supervisee information, except in cases where there are reasonable grounds to suspect professional misconduct, incompetence, incapacity, or sexual abuse/misconduct, which must be reported to the Executive Director and, if applicable, the appropriate regulatory body.
- Undertake supervisory responsibilities only when possessing the necessary knowledge, skill, and judgment to provide the services being supervised.

**Client Care and Risk Management**:

- Provide expertise on high-risk cases, including risk assessment and crisis intervention, as requested by staff.
- Ensure client care is culturally safe, trauma-informed and healing centered, consistent with Wanasah’s mission and values.

**Professional Development**:

- Stay informed about CRPO,CNO, OCSWSSW and other regulations and industry best practices through ongoing professional development.
- Share knowledge and resources with Wanasah staff to support their continuous learning and development.

**Administrative Responsibilities**:

- Document and maintain supervision discussions, including the focus and issues addressed, to ensure comprehensive oversight and follow-up.
- Participate in meetings or consultations with Wanasah staff as required, providing insights on clinical matters.
- Offer input on the recruitment, orientation, and training of new clinical staff when requested.

**Qualifications**:

- **Education**: Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or a related field.
- **Registration**: Registered Psychotherapist in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
- Qualified CRPO Clinical Supervisor.
- **Experience**: Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, with 2-3 years of clinical supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience with youth/children/families, including Black youth is essential.
- Experience in in community-based work is critical.
- **Skills**: Strong clinical supervision expertise, excellent communication and skills, and experience with a variety of therapeutic modalities including Dialectical Behavioural therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, etc.
- **Knowledge**: Strong understanding of CRPO, CNO, OCSWSSW and other standards and relevant standards, ethical practice in psychotherapy, and evidence-based mental health care.

**Additional Requirements**:

- Ability to work flexibly, being available for consultation as needed.
- Be available for at least 2-3 hours of monthly clinical supervision sess
