Read the Granville Island 2040: Bridging Past & Future report by clicking on this link: granvilleisland2040.ca Reporting to the Manager, Operations, Maintenance & Security, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of up to 14 full-time, permanent staff, alongside seasonal employees. **Responsibilities**: - Motivates staff to perform their duties to the best of their abilities and meet department objectives and participates in the hiring process, training, conducting performance evaluations and recommending disciplinary action, when required. - Plan and schedule maintenance of Granville Island, setting priorities for the team, and verifying the work is done. - Resolve interpersonal conflicts between staff and co-workers, as well as between staff and tenants. - Recommends and develops the scope of work for tendered projects, negotiates contracts within established authorities, coordinates, oversees, verifies, and authorizes payment for the work. - Assists the Manager, Operations in project management, oversees the activities of project teams / working groups, establishes work plans, priorities, milestones and schedules, monitoring work performance against deliverables, provides appropriate reports and recommendations throughout the process. - Manages the preventative maintenance schedule and work orders for maintenance department. - Respond to emergency calls outside his/her regular scheduled hour of work and must carry a CMHC issued cell phone, at all times. **Minimum Qualifications**: - Post-secondary certification in a building trade, mechanical or property management with a minimum of 8 years’ experience in building operations and facilities management. - Minimum of 5 years’ supervisory experience, ideally in a unionized environment, with a solid background in coaching. - Knowledge of hazards and working in a marine environment. - Thorough understanding of WCB regulations and Canada Labour Code health and safety regulations. - Basic computer skills, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc. - Certification as a forklift operator - training will be provided if needed. - Sound judgment and able to make decisions responsibly with minimum guidance. - Strong communication skills and ability to build and maintain positive relationships with various stakeholders (tenants, public and merchants and management. - Ability to stay focussed on the task at hand in a highly congested environment, both of noise, exhaust, and people. - Valid driver’s licence. **Preferred Qualifications**: - Supervisory experience in a unionized environment. - WHMIS certificate. - Previous experience in a related public property environment. - Project management experience. Base Salary with experience: $87,741.93 + 2.75% shift premium = $90,154.83 per annum. Individual Incentive Award: 2.5 - 5% of base salary.
