**The Opportunity**

Reporting to the Manager, Payroll, the Payroll Assistant is responsible for supporting the payroll department in processing employee payments accurately and in a timely manner. This role involves entering and update payroll data, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and providing excellent support to employees with payroll-related inquiries.

**The Role**:

- Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll activities for salaried and casual employees in accordance with established collective agreements, provincial and federal legislation, policies and procedures
- Assist with entering and updating payroll data accurately and in a timely manner while ensuring and improving overall data integrity and consistency
- Assist with reporting requirements as needed
- Assist with pension and benefit billing reconciliations
- Assist with Calendar Year End activities
- Create and update payroll standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Review and update payroll checklists
- Back up and support team members
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager, Payroll

**Qualifications & Experience**:

- **Education**:

- Post-secondary diploma or degree, with preference given to human resources, business administration or a related field
- ** Experience**:

- 1 to 2 years’ experience in an office environment
- Experience in Accounting
