Reporting to the Director of Film and Creative Industries, and managed by Sector Development Officer, Creative Technology, the Supervisor Special Events (FCI) will be responsible for supervising a variety of events and activities in support of the creative industries, including:
- Managing small, medium and large-scale events including town halls, industry events, and trade missions
- Providing up to date information on current practices and innovative ideas for event execution
**Major Responsibilities**:
- Supervises events for all sections of FCI (Film and Creative Industries) to support a variety of initiatives. This includes Visitor Economy, Film, Music and Creative Technology Offices.
- Supervises, motivates and trains staff, contractors, and volunteers for programs and projects, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, continuous learning and encourages innovation in others.
- Manages logistics for events including researching and liaising with vendors, partners, and others
- Manages the development, administration and monitoring of assigned project/program or event budget including processing, tracking and submission of purchases, contracts, revenues and expenditures and ensures expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations.
- Works with various section leaders to design, plan and execute programs and projects from inception to completion and evaluation, including any/all on-site related elements/activities
- Manages programs and projects, or acts as a member of project team, and integrates/consults with the Sections' Marketing, Sponsorship, Programming and Production teams to align elements into the program/project from its inception to evaluation.
- Liaises with Sponsorship and Communications/Marketing teams to develop and execute local and regional campaigns in support of FCI programs including initiating project requests, reviewing outputs, managing timelines and providing success metrics.
- Maintains and retains strategic relationships with industry stakeholder organizations, senior industry representatives, individual businesses, local, provincial and national organizations, politicians, bureaucrats and consulates as well as with, schools, venues, communities and attractions.
- Develops and executes strategic measurement techniques through surveys and other targeted research to effectively evaluate public opinion, economic impact and industry/sponsor impression.
- Researches new and existing event trends, statistics and information to help inform reports, briefing notes and documents in support the FCI programs and projects.
- Researches, negotiates and contracts vendors in support of delivery of FCI programs.
- Designs and implements logistics strategies for program/project/event execution. Coordinates and communicates strategies to staff, suppliers, vendors, volunteers and consultants.
- Consults with external industry organizations and associations.
- Consults with local, national and international organizations and City divisions on advice pertaining to trends in events, logístical and technical requirements, and evolving trends and activations related to creative industries.
