- The Communications and Community Development Officer reflects from the user's perspective and promotes effective communication channels for residents. The Communications Officer acts as a link between the municipal administration and the municipality's resident users. Supporting various municipal projects, the position plans, develops and executes all of the Township's communication activities.
- The incumbent also acts as the Special Events Coordinator within the Special Events Review Team and assists various organizations with their requests for support or funding.
- Implements various municipal communication and marketing strategies.
- Develops communication tools (writing and graphic design) according to the departments' needs (newsletters, social media posts, promotional items, calendar, etc.).
- Assists and advises the elected officials, the senior management team and the administration on all matters related to communications, information and public relations.
- Manages social media accounts (community management) and website content.
- Establish and maintain a trustworthy relationship with all external partners
- Creates relevant and appropriate content for the various platforms and target audiences.
- Writes and publishes all press releases.
- Ensures the consistency and quality of all messages and visuals published.
- Ensures compliance with graphic standards.
- Ensures compliance with web accessibility standards for all external communications.
- Advises, develops, implements and supports communication strategies and plans for various projects.
- Attends Emergency Response Group meetings as the Information Officer for the Emergency Response Group and coordinates all emergency-related communications activities.
- Compiles website, social media and campaign statistics regularly, documents the various performance indicators and proposes recommendations.
- Advises the various departments and manages/processes complaints addressed to the municipality.
- Keeps track of the various events to ensure their promotion and distribution on digital platforms.
- Updates and creates electronic forms, letters and notices as requested by the various departments.
- Collaborates with municipal departments and external partners in implementing, monitoring and updating existing policies.
- Attends and participates in meetings with various local organizations or provincial and/or federal departments related to tourism.
- Acts as a liaison between external agencies and various municipal departments.
- Prepares agendas, completes forms, takes minutes and acts as a liaison between special event organizers and the Special Events Review Team.
- Performs all other duties related to his/her function and in support of communications.
