**Assistant Manager, Accounting**

**Job Description**:
The Assistant Manager, Accounting is responsible for delivering high standards overseeing the monthly accounting close process for OGC’s legal entities as well as all audits. This includes leading month-end close, reviewing results for reasonability, signing-off on month-end, and ensuring clean audits.
- Manages direct reports by providing supervision, coaching, feedback and development to ensure key deliverables are met.
- Coordinate, direct and plan the daily accounting operations.
- Oversee monthly accounting processes. This includes communicating and streamlining the monthly close and driving accounting processes to meet close deadlines.
- Review account reconciliations and balance sheet and income statement accounts monthly for reasonability prior to month-end sign-off.
- Review and approve complex journal entries completed by the senior accounting team.
- Oversee annual corporate and client audits, as well as regulatory audits.
- Secures financial information through regular database back-ups and follows internal accounting controls to maintain financial security.
- Provides support to the organization by participating in special projects.
- Applies quality principles and practices and ensures continuous improvement relating to the internal reporting process and content of the information report. This includes managing processes to support the department’s strategic direction and communicating, facilitating and supporting necessary changes as well as reviewing existing processes and procedures to develop recommendations for improvement.
- Increase the team’s effectiveness. This includes recruiting, selecting and training individuals, communicating strategies and objectives, and providing employees with the necessary resources to perform individual job responsibilities efficiently.
- Leads the performance management process by communicating job expectations and tracking individuals’ progress. This includes training, motivation and support to help employees meet objectives and quality requirements, reviewing progress, and offering feedback.
- Performs other duties within competence, as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- CPA designation or pursuing a CPA designation
- A minimum of six years’ experience in the general accounting field and one year of supervisory experience.
- Advanced knowledge of financial accounting and internal controls.
- Knowledge of income and commodity taxation.
- Exceptional communication skills and a demonstrated ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving, technical, and analytical skills.
- Superior time management and organizational skills to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Self-starter who demonstrates initiative and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- The ability to communicate in French is considered an asset.
