**What responsibilities will you have in this role?**

The Culinary Supply Clerk (CSC) supplies food ingredients, beverage, equipment and sundry items to class needs through a variety of tasks including supply cart assembly, supply cart return processing, receiving, distribution, storage and maintenance of products and equipment, lab resets in the Centre of Hospitality and Culinary Arts (CHCA). The incumbent ensures that the proper quantity and quality of instructional supplies are assembled and distributed in a timely manner based on the requisitions. This position is the foundation for the logistics of instructional supplies critical for smooth operations of labs, classes, demos, and events in CHCA.
- Reviews the requisition for the class, determines type of food wagon to use, and cleans the wagon as required following Cart/Truck Packing Standard.
- Plans the layout of the food wagon; identifies products by pack size and adjust quantities to suit the needs of the requisition noting discrepancies, inspects products quality before loading to the wagon.
- Loads the wagon with product that can be stored in the prep cart fridge, notes product that must be added to the wagon on the day of the lab.
- Determines best method for product breakdown as a large quantity of items are purchased in commercial format and have weight variances from 500 g to 22.7 kg format.
- Notes any shorts (product or equipment missing) as the wagon is loaded and communicates shorts to the production technologist.
- Assembles items for same day addition and labels/stores in appropriate location.
- Assists in dismantling supply carts from classes, moving returned products to the appropriate dispensary area.
- Supports the various inventories such as self-check and periodic which identifies upcoming cart packing needs.
- Fills out requisitions and notes any items that require advanced preparation on both requisition and the communication log.
- Assists in taking apart returned supply carts from classes noting returned product and returning to the appropriate dispensing area, records unusual or large quantity returns to assist in identifying challenge areas.
- Maintains health and sanitation practices.
- Provides customer service throughout any/all required shifts of operation addressing/ directs inquiries from all sources to the appropriate staff member.
- Checks for accuracy of products received against the invoice and the purchase order (PO) by weighing and measuring all products delivered.
- Verifies quality of the products delivered, assesses received product against standards.
- Breakdown of delivery skids (packages of produce, proteins, broadline, stocks, etc.) and transport/stock items in appropriate locations in a timely manner to hold/store products within safe food handling procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**What qualifications do you need for this role?**
- Two-year Diploma or equivalent form a recognized post-secondary institution in Food and Beverage or Food Service or Culinary Management.
- May require G drivers license with a clean driving abstract.
- Must have First Aid, Smart Serve, and Food Handler Certificate.
- Minimum two years practical work experience in Hospitality or Culinary Industry; knowledge of food products and how to properly receive, store and issue products is required.
- Experience receiving/distribution in a large warehouse setting with knowledge/understanding of purchase orders and requisitions considered an asset.
- Knowledge of industry related Occupational Health and Safety Guidelines for weights in excess of 20 kg.
- Experience on a computerized inventory tracking system (Adaco or another Food Service inventory management software, Silverware, Microsoft) would be an asset.
- Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in an environment which includes extremes in temperature, noise, and odours, working in isolated or crowded situations, accessing small and confined spaces.
- Ability to lift up to and over 20 kg or 44 lbs. (e.g., Bags of potatoes, produce, milk, bag of stock, etc.).
