**Human Resources Generalist**

Mook Fabrics Ltd is a large wholesale/retail fabric supplier servicing and distributing throughout Canada and the United States.

We have an opportunity for an ambitious and self-motivated individual seeking employment as a Human Resources Generalist. This is a permanent, full-time position.

**Position Summary**:
As an integral part of our team, the Human Resource Generalist is responsible for providing HR support and services to the Medicine Hat and Winnipeg operations as well as administration support for the U.S. operations. The HR generalist is responsible for supporting a variety of programs and services including full cycle recruitment, on-boarding, HR metrics, compensation reviews, employee relations, and manager support.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide human resource advice, services and support in the areas of recruitment, employee relations and performance management.
- Educate managers and employees on policies, procedures and best practices as needed.
- Provide advice to management on Alberta and Manitoba Employment Standards, and other relevant employment laws and statutes.
- Provide administration assistance to the Pennsylvania operations as needed
- Review and update company policies and programs.
- Manage full cycle recruitment.
- Responsible for benefits administration, including enrollments, changes and cancellations
- Assist in maintaining and promoting a safety program and culture throughout the organization, participate in the joint work site Health and Safety Committee.
- Identify training needs and opportunities for development of team members across the organization.
- Support in the administration of the Return-to-Work Program, WCB claims and Long-term Disability Claims management.
- Assist in planning and coordinating employee social activities/events.
- Maintain employee information spreadsheets and record keeping.
- Development and on-going review and updating of Job Descriptions.
- Conduct workplace investigations as required.
- Lead and participate in Human Resource projects and initiatives as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- 3+ years’ experience with a wide variety of human resources functions. Degree or Diploma in Human Resources preferred; however, an appropriate combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- Experience in Retail/Warehouse industries would be considered an asset.
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation (or working toward) is a strong asset.
- Knowledge and understanding of current employment standards, human rights, health and safety and privacy legislation (specifically AB & MB)
- Payroll & Benefits Experience an asset
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to develop, compose and edit letters.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills along with the ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines.
- Must be highly motivated, show a great deal of initiative with the ability to work with mínimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving ability including being able to identify issues and resolve them in a timely manner.
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills with an emphasis on ability to prepare ad hoc reports.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- The ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality is essential.
- Demonstrated research skills

**Position**: Full time permanent

**Hours**: 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday.

**Compensation**:

- Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
