**Position Overview**:
The Scale Operator at YORK1 is responsible for managing the scale house operations at the Sherman Scrap Yard. This role involves accurately weighing and tracking all loads of scrap and metal entering and leaving the facility, directing incoming traffic, processing invoices, payments and administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the facility.

**Key Functions & Duties**:

- Identify and classify incoming and outgoing scrap materials and metals.
- Accurately weigh and record all loads of scrap and metal, ensuring that non-metallic or prohibited materials are properly redirected.
- Direct incoming traffic to ensure efficient and orderly flow of vehicles and materials.
- Ensure that gates and buildings are secured, locked, or disarmed as needed.

**Required Qualifications and Skills**:

- Grade 12 or High School Diploma.
- Experience in a similar scale house environment and or administrative roles
- Understanding of safety procedures and policies related to the handling of scrap and metal materials.
- Demonstrated ability to provide professional and courteous service to customers and truck drivers.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in weighing and recording materials, invoicing and payment reconciliation.
