**Hours**: 40+ hrs. / week (Overtime when required).
Reporting to the Procurement Supervisor, Fleet, the Purchaser will develop purchasing strategies, work with suppliers and colleagues to procure a variety products and supplies. Their main accountability will be to the Fleet Procurement function, while being an optional resource for the corporate side should workload dictate.
**Job Duties**
- Perform and complete purchases for Fleet Procurement of direct charge and inventory items including associated parts for heavy and light equipment, consumables, small tools, direct service providers, minor equipment rentals, equipment hauling, and asset purchases (AFE's)
- Work with Material Requisition Forms (MRF) to confirm requirements and prepare a proper form PO structure to allow efficient receiving and invoicing against the PO.
- Management of the purchase order process for financial accuracy and timeliness of ensuring supply and services meet requirements, holdback and payment terms are properly set up and tracked to the proper accounts, and proper tax codes are utilized.
- Liaison with supplier and business unit representatives to ensure goods and services meet quality standards and on time.
- Works with the Procurement Supervisor to maintain an effective and efficient procurement process.
- Review, investigate and cooperate with other functional business units, including Asset Management and Operations to resolve outstanding invoices and issues.

- Effectively communicate and interface with all areas of business and deliver a high standard of internal customer service; process changes, analysis of issues, investigation and issue resolution and provide direction for improvements.
- Execute integrated procurement management systems and processes to support the needs of the business.
**Technical Skills and Knowledge**
- Extensive knowledge of heavy construction, mining, large equipment products.
- Effective communication, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
- Analytical and mathematical capabilities to compare prices and quantities and consider vendor contract terms.
- Ability to evaluate market conditions and source using various suppliers.
- Experience with JD Edwards an asset.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint)
- Strong conceptual, analytical, problem-solving skills and sound decision-making abilities
- Working knowledge of financial transactions and impacts as related to inventory
- Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated ability to work with people of all levels within the organization.
- Strong organizational, time management and planning skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Experience and knowledge of Purchasing policies and procedures.
**Work Experience & Education**
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in a purchasing role.
- Post secondary degree or equivalent experience in purchasing role.
- Certification is preferred but is not necessary
