Required to carry out any inspection operation or tests on all products and processes from drawings, manuals, specifications and standards, with the use of necessary tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges and inspection test equipment, without instruction or supervision. (and lead customer joint inspections when required) - Required to instruct other labour classifications with attaining the quality standards required of manufactured parts, sub-assemblies and movements. Will be required to make out both written and computer based quality reports and keep inspection records, check, test and sign out completed vehicles. - Operates and programs Q.A. Co-ordinate Measuring Machines for routine inspections on series manufactured products. With the support of the QA Engineer if required, operates the QA co-ordinate measuring machines during development programs and investigations. - Required to support manufacturing teams on daily basis by helping ensure self-inspection is effectively carried out, quality performance data is kept current on station boards, work station audits are conducted, Quality Red Alerts are raised when required, and quality issues and open actions are animated and progressed during daily meetings as part of the Leading Quality in Production process. Also required to manage problem solving and Quick Response Quality Control (QRQC) activities including organizing meetings and collaborating with peers to establish containment and corrective actions to prevent recurrence of defects and support the zero defect program. - Required to carry out inspection operations and tests on production assemblies, including "first-off" production or purchased parts and support PME technicians with data and participation in First Mount Reviews (FMR). - Required to support and validate vendor inspection and rework / repair activities conducted on supplier parts in the plant. Works under minimum supervision. May be required to instruct or assist other inspectors. Job Qualifications Mandatory: - Associate degree (2 years technical degree after high school) - Experience in managing Quality Control tools and problem-solving tools. - Know how to read and interpret drawings and specifications - Know how to use industrial measurement tools and instruments Desirable: - 3 -10 years’ experience in Industrial environment Competencies & Skills - Familiar with manufacture of railway products. - International mindset & fluent in English. - Ability to work in a matrix organization. **Salary**: $50.00-$55.00 per hour **Benefits**: - Dental care - Extended health care - Paid time off - RRSP match Schedule: - 8 hour shift - Day shift - Monday to Friday Supplemental pay types: - Bonus pay - Overtime pay - Retention bonus - Signing bonus **Education**: - Secondary School (preferred) **Experience**: - Quality Control: 5 years (required) - Rail Domain: 3 years (required) Ability to Commute: - Thunder Bay, ON (required) Ability to Relocate: - Thunder Bay, ON: Relocate before starting work (required)
