**Job Description**:
**Accountability**: The Summer Project Assistant directly reports to the Building & Property Manager

**Summary**:
Student Project Assistant is a summer employment opportunity that is funded through Nova Scotia Student Summer Incentive Program (SKILL), a program which provides employment opportunities for students. Applicants must be a permanent resident of Nova Scotia or live in Nova Scotia for at least six months prior to the work term.

**Main duties and Responsibilities**:
(main functions but not limited to the following)

The Archdiocese is putting an increasing focus on building and property management, and this summer position will assist in a variety of activities to achieve this purpose.

The student will:

- Assist in the creation of a property database; they will analyze and use the information currently available about properties
- Identify the properties
- Gather and collect information about the properties
- Assist in updating the property database
- Correct information on land registry sites
- Assist in creating procedures that will enable this department to maintain the database's updates in the future.

- Demonstrated above average written and oral communications skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality, diplomacy and hospitality
- Ability to work independently.

**Note**:
Offer of employment is contingent on Student Summer Incentive program (SKILL) funding approval and on upon the completion of all applicable background checks and confirmation of references and credentials, the results of which must be satisfactory to the employer.

**Responsible Ministry**:
The person who fills this position is required to consent to a Police Record Check and to sign an agreement to abide by the Responsible Ministry protocols of the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth.
