Payroll Specialist

Payroll Specialist (on-site) - Ceridian Dayforce
A professional Payroll Specialist is required immediately to process employee and broker payroll for Cardinal Couriers LTD. As a federally-regulated organization with multiple companies and operations in ON and QC, this position is responsible for all payroll-related tasks including year-end processing, reconciliations, remittances, reporting, etc.
About the employee payroll
- Processed using Ceridian Dayforce
- Approximately 350 employees in total, ON and QC
- Six (6) bi-weekly payrolls and one (1) monthly payroll
- Six (6) federally-regulated and one (1) provincially-regulated companies
- Hourly and salary; mainly non-union, with one small union (approx 25 employees)
- Benefits with employee deductions
- RRSP and TFSA - only employee deductions
- All processing and related tasks, including year-end

Broker payroll
- Currently processed by finance; will transition back to this position
- Create invoices for freight brokers; approximately 80 total
- Incorporate charges back for fuel and other charges
- Created in excel

**Qualifications**:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience processing payroll and year-end using Ceridian Dayforce, including HRIS modules within Dayforce.
- Payroll experience to include:

- ON & QC
- Federally-regulated (preferred, but not mandatory)
- All aspects of payroll and year-end processing
- Hourly and salary
- Union preferred but not mandatory
- Transportation industry experience preferred

Other Skills and Qualifications
- Highly proficient in excel, including pivot tables, v-look-up, etc
- PCP designation
- Education in computer-related degree/diploma is an asset
- Strong communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills, with service-related disposition
- Unwavering commitment to processing payroll accurately and on-time
- Responsible and professional; works well both independently and with a team
- Ability and willingness to work on extra projects
- Highly organized, with strong time-management skills

Reporting
As part of the HR team, this position reports into the Director of Human Resources.
Location
This position works out of Cardinal's head office, located at 6600 Goreway Drive, Unit D in Mississauga (close to the airport; Derry Rd & Goreway Drive). This position is 100% in the office.
