Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the successful applicant will be a key part of the DSBN's HRIS & Payroll Services department, helping DSBN meet its payroll, pension and benefit reporting requirements. The Payroll Supervisor will provide expertise and customer service to a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders. Handle multiple deadlines and changing priorities.

**EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) or acceptable equivalent is required.
- A post-secondary degree in a related discipline such as Business Administration, including courses in Accounting, Human Resources and Information Technology;
- A minimum of five (5) years' experience of progressive responsibility in providing payroll for a large, multi-unionized employer, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience, preferably in a multi unionized environment.
- Knowledge of Tax Regulations, Employment Insurance, Teachers Pension, OMERS pension, integrated HR/Payroll software, labour legislation and employment standards.
- Understanding and administering payroll for unionized groups.
- Proven supervisory experience with strong leadership, mentoring and team building skills.
- Strong mathematical, research, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and planning skills.
- Proven conflict resolution skills and the ability to develop a culture of high trust, collaboration, and engagement.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, Adobe, and Microsoft Business Central.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Partner with Financial Services, Employee Services, HRIS & Payroll teams to support the department's functions and responsibilities.
- Manage the DSBN's Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan account including resolving reconciliation issues, calculating amounts owing, processing remittances and completing the annual reconciliation.
- Manage the DSBN's OMERS pension plan including resolving reconciliation issues, calculating amounts owing and managing the year end 119 remittances.
- Collaborate with the Senior Payroll Specialist, and HRIS Coordinators on pension updates, ensuring timely completion of the required paperwork within pension portals for accurate reporting.
- Conducting employee pay audit reporting to verify the accuracy of all pension and benefit deductions.
- Ensure all month end remittances related to pension and benefits are submitted for approvals to meet monthly deadlines.
- Manage COWAN and One-T benefit files, and monthly remittances.
- Administer the deferred finance leave plan including updating employee statements, reconciling employee accounts and managing communication with employees.
- Review and analyze reporting requirements to ensure that accurate payroll data is available as needed.
- Assisting with year-end reconciliations and T4 processing, including account reconciliations and accruals.
- Provide backup support for the Payroll Manager

**Salary range**:$ 86,355 - $ 100,976. Includes a competitive benefits plan through a provincial benefits trust plan (extended health, dental, life insurance, AD&D), paid vacation and enrolment in OMERS pension plan. This is a 12 month, permanent (35-hour) position and is part of the Board's union-exempt Administrative Management Group.
