**Nature and Scope**:

- The Payroll and Benefits Clerk is accountable to support the day-to-day tasks of payroll process cycle which includes Workforce management software and benefits administration and reconciliations
- The Payroll and Benefits Clerk is accountable to backup Payroll Administrator to process and support the bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salary staff ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, and in compliance with all legal and contractual requirements
- The Payroll and Benefits Clerk incumbent works closely with the HR and Finance department
- This position has no direct reports

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist in the processing of all changes, new hires, job changes, timecards reports and reconciliations, premium payments, manual adjustments, allocations, garnishments, calculate statutory holiday pay
- Backup Payroll Administrator to process hourly & salary biweekly payroll and all reporting
- Work in WFM (management) to ensure all timecards are accurate and in compliance with internal policies and all legal and contractual requirements
- Ensure payroll system and processes are current, reflecting all updates and legislative changes
- Ensure employee accruals time entitlements are current and staff do not exceed their accumulated sick balance
- Generate Payroll Summary, Payroll Exceptions and Payroll Salary Reports for pay period
- Process ROEs for terminations and cyclical payroll swings around such events as Christmas, March Break, Camp, and summer Childcare layoffs, in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Ensures timely remittance of government source deductions, taxes and all other associated requirements
- Ensure accurate up-to-date, employee documentation; ensure confidentiality and appropriate custody of payroll information
- Maintain, process, add and remove all applicable staff in benefits and pension plan as per guidelines and reconcile all benefits for hourly & salary staff
- Perform regular audits on entitlement banks and adjust as needed.
- Support Payroll and WFM reconfiguration projects, and provide training of managers and staff
- UKG Workforce Management Advanced Scheduling - monitor employee schedules, assist managers with issues/concerns. Create pattern/shift templates when requested.
- Assist with filing and general administrative duties as required
- Other duties as assigned
