Under the general guidance of the Senior Director, Library and Learning Services, the Professional Writing Tutor (part-time) works with students on assignments to refine their writing, improve their self-expression, and enable them to effectively communicate their ideas and research. The tutor will also create and deliver several writing workshops each semester.

The tutor’s area of specialization and focus will be on supporting international students and other students who do not use English as their first language and/or are new to academic work in English and the position also provides writing support for other students as requested.

Workshop topics will be developed in collaboration with the Writing Center and with other staff and faculty that work with Adler’s international students.

The tutor will support students in person on the Vancouver campus when appropriate and based on tutor’s availability and will often provide one-on-one assistance and teach workshops over Zoom.

**The hourly rate of pay is $27 per hour.**

**Education/Experience**:

- Bachelor’s degree in English, TESOL, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- TESL Canada certification required.
- A minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated experience in classroom teaching and one-on-one tutoring in writing and related topics in a higher education setting, specifically to graduate students and international students.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Work up to to 15 hours per week total for one-on-one writing tutoring, workshop creation and delivery
- Collaborate on and provide writing services; This will include synchronous and asynchronous assistance, and both face-to-face and online meetings.
- Schedule for one-on-one appointments which is based on meeting times requested by Adler students within a calendar of availability mutually agreed upon by the tutor and the Senior Director, Library and Learning Services.
- Attend workshops that will be held on days/times that allow maximum student participation.

**Work Environment (Physical Demands)**:The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
