**About the Role**
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical individual to join our Cannabis Retail team at SNDL. As a Category Analyst, you will play a crucial role in analyzing market data, consumer insights, and sales trends to provide valuable insights and recommendations for optimizing category performance. You will work closely with the Category Manager and cross-functional teams to support strategic decision-making and drive business growth. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of a rapidly evolving industry and make a meaningful impact on our business.
**Job Responsibility**
Data Analysis:
- Collect, analyze, and interpret sales data, market research, and consumer behavior to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities within specific product categories.
Performance Tracking:
- Monitor and evaluate category performance metrics such as sales, margins, market share, and inventory levels, and prepare regular reports to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
Market Research:
- Conduct competitive analysis, market research, and industry benchmarking to stay informed about market dynamics, consumer preferences, and emerging trends in the Canadian cannabis industry.
Assortment Planning:
- Collaborate with the Category Manager to develop data-driven product assortment strategies, ensuring optimal product mix and variety to meet customer demands and maximize sales potential.
Pricing Analysis:
- Analyze pricing strategies, promotional effectiveness, and competitive pricing intelligence to make recommendations for pricing adjustments and promotional activities.
Forecasting and Demand Planning:
- Support the Manager, Retail Demand Planning in accurate demand forecasting and inventory planning, leveraging historical data and market insights to optimize inventory levels and minimize stockouts or excess inventory.
Collaborative Partnership:
- Work closely with internal stakeholders, including the Category Manager, suppliers, marketing, and operations teams, to align on category objectives, strategies, and tactics.
Insights and Recommendations:
- Translate complex data into actionable insights and strategic recommendations to drive category growth, improve profitability, and enhance the overall customer experience.
Presentation and Communication:
- Prepare and deliver clear and concise presentations to communicate findings, recommendations, and performance updates to cross-functional teams and senior management.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, advancements in data analysis tools and techniques, and best practices in category management, and proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and analytical capabilities.
**Qualifications**
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with expertise in data analysis, market research, and statistical analysis.
- Proficiency in using analytical tools such as Excel, PowerBI, or other data visualization software.
- Knowledge of category management principles and methodologies.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work with complex data sets.
- Strong communication skills to present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
- Passion for the cannabis industry and a desire to contribute to its growth and success.
- Degree/Diploma/Certificate in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field is considered an asset.
