We are looking for an Employee and Labour Relations Department Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Director People
Services & Operations, and as a key member of the management team, the Employee and Labor Relations Department Manager
will provide strategic leadership to a team of Labour Relations professionals and is responsible for the overall design, governance,
and delivery of the Labour Relations strategy and programs. In this critical role, you will be responsible for developing and
implementing labour relations strategies to maintain positive and productive relationships between management and employees.
**_ Responsibilities:_**
- Define the strategy and philosophy of labour relations programs, plans, and policies aligned with HR and business strategies
and priorities.
- Maintain knowledge of labour laws, collective bargaining agreements, and union-management contracts.
- Lead contract negotiations and provide guidance to management in labour relations matters.
- Investigate and resolve employee complaints and disputes, including grievances.
- Develop and deliver training programs for management and employees on labour relations topics.
- Prepare and analyze data on labour relations trends and make recommendations to senior management.
- Represent the company in administrative and legal proceedings, including arbitrations, mediations, and other forums.
- Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure labour relations strategies align with overall business goals and
- objectives.
- Engage with Business HR, Employee Experience Services, and other SMEs to identify key business imperatives,
- operationalize strategy and program changes, and align Total Rewards with talent programs.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to direct reports through thought leadership and industry best practices while
- ensuring the program aligns with business priorities, fosters an excellent employee experience, and is cost-effective.
- Ensure internal equity and external competitiveness across all total rewards programs through detailed reporting and analytics
- and external benchmarking.
- Champion the new business model, partnering with other HR teams to understand the needs of the business and providing
support for escalated issues related to total rewards (as needed).
**_ Qualifications:_**
- Completion of a four-year degree from an institute of recognized standing in an applicable discipline, plus nine years of
directly related experience, demonstrating progressively greater responsibility in a supervisory/leadership capacity or an
equivalent combination of related education and experience.
- A Labour Relations Professional designation would be an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to provide mature leadership in planning, organizing, and managing multiple activities within strict
timelines.
