At the Newcomer Centre, our mission is clear: to support newcomers at every stage of their settlement journey, from arrival to thriving. Through services like settlement and integration, employment support, English language training, and community engagement programs, we empower individuals to build meaningful lives while enriching the cultural fabric of Edmonton.

**The Challenge**

Support the Newcomer Centre's financial sustainability by creating compelling, evidence-based proposal packages that clearly demonstrate the transformative impact we have on newcomers and the community. Through your work, you will directly support and contribute to the Strategic Plan priorities of sustainability, service excellence and innovation; building an empowered future for all.

**The Opportunity**:

- Maintain and enhance our grant tracking and reporting systems.
- Research and prospect new funding opportunities aligned with our mission.
- Lead and coordinate proposal development projects across teams.
- Build authentic, lasting relationships with funders and partners.
- Tell powerful, human-centred stories using data and evidence.
- Embrace and champion work/life effectiveness, new technologies and ways of working.

**What it Takes**:
While all backgrounds will be considered, the most helpful history will involve:

- A Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Services, Community Development, Sociology or Social Sciences, or a related field.
- 5 years of relevant work or volunteer experience such as grant writing, community development, program coordination, fundraising, research and evaluation, communications, or nonprofit/public sector engagement.
- Strong grant writing and proposal development in the non-profit sector, specific experience in the Settlement Sector experience is an asset.
- Demonstrated excellence in storytelling, research, writing and project management.
- Knowledge of government, foundations and corporate funding processes and requirements.

Additional assets that may be helpful:

- Additional training in or certification in grant writing, fundraising or management (i.e., Management Development certificate or Advanced Grant Writing courses).
- Professional designations such as Grant Professional Certification (GPC/GPCI), and Certified Fund Raising Executives (CFRE).
