Intergovernmental Relations Grants Coordinator

Position Status: Full Time (40 hrs per week), Permanent
The Otipemisiwak Métis Government is recruiting for a full time Intergovernmental Relations Grants Coordinator. Reporting to Manager of Intergovernmental Relations, the successful candidate will be responsible for identifying funding opportunities, preparing grant applications, and grant implementation oversight to ensure compliance with grant obligations. The Intergovernmental Relations Grants Coordinator will work closely with staff and leadership to ensure timely submission of proposals and obligatory compliance with funders. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Métis history, excellent research and organizational skills, along with effective oral and written abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and identify grant opportunities from government, foundation, and corporate sources.
- Write and submit grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents.
- Track application deadlines, submission statuses, and reporting requirements.
- Report to IGR leadership on submission statuses and requirements.
- Collaborate with program teams to gather data and develop project objectives.
- Maintain a database of grant activity and funding history.
- Assist in preparing interim and final reports for funders.
- Monitor grant outcomes and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Support communication efforts related to grants.
- Support intergovernmental relations activities, including assisting in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, and priorities of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government.
- Other duties as required or assigned.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated political awareness with the ability to navigate complex political environments with tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to exercise discretion in handling confidential and politically sensitive information.
- Commitment to public service and collaboration to achieve Otipemisiwak Métis Government goals.
- Cultural sensitivity and compassion.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, or related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience working in government, particularly in a legislative or executive capacity is preferred.
- Knowledge of Federal and Provincial government processes and policies is an asset.
- Familiarity with data analysis and budgeting is an asset.
- Knowledge of the Otipemisiwak Métis Government, Métis history, Métis culture, and government relations is an asset.
Other Requirements
- Position will be based in Edmonton.
- Ability to work a regular schedule of Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, with occasional evenings and weekends.
- Travel within Alberta is required. Additional, less frequent, out-of-province travel may also occur, with notice.
- Must have a valid Class 5 driver's license and an operational vehicle.
