**Role Responsibilities**:

Join our Strategic Initiatives team and help shape transportation policies and grant programs that impact the safety and efficiency of Alberta’s transportation network. This dynamic Grants Analyst role offers the opportunity to lead meaningful projects, support attraction and retention in Alberta’s commercial driving industry, and contribute to initiatives that affect municipal, provincial, national, and international stakeholders.
As a Grants Analyst in the Modernization & Strategic Integration Branch, you will support the Ministry’s mission by providing timely, objective policy and process advice and managing high-impact grant programs. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Initiatives, you’ll oversee aspects of grant management, work with internal and external stakeholders to manage grants processes, develop evidence-based policy recommendations, and support legislative and regulatory improvements. This role directly contributes to the Ministry’s goals of advancing traffic safety, enhancing service delivery, and driving systemic improvements across the transportation sector.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Managing day-to-day operations of contracted grant administration teams
- Monitoring grant compliance and performance against financial and project milestones
- Developing communications and addressing stakeholder inquiries related to grants
- Leading small projects or components of broader initiatives
- Researching legislation, trends, and stakeholder needs to inform policy development
- Supporting the drafting and review of policies, regulations, and program frameworks
- Identifying gaps or overlaps in current transportation programs, particularly Traffic Safety Services grant programs
- Recommending improvements and assessing new initiatives for impact and efficiency
- Facilitating partnerships across government, industry, and the public
- Coordinating engagement activities and supporting consensus building on policy matters
- Preparing briefing notes, key messages, and strategic plans for senior leadership
- Translating complex data into actionable insights and business recommendations
- Staying ahead of emerging trends affecting Alberta’s transportation system

**Qualifications**:
Required:
- A related university degree (e.g., Public Administration, Business, Political Science, Economics, etc.), and a minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
- Equivalencies may be considered.

- Experiencing managing contracts, including financial and performance monitoring.
Preferred:
- Proficiency in policy research techniques, data analysis, and briefing note development.

- Familiarity with traffic safety trends and transportation infrastructure programs.
