**Fisheries Council of Canada**
The Fisheries Council of Canada (FCC) is a non-profit trade association that has been representing companies engaged in the harvesting, processing, importing and marketing of wild-capture fish and seafood for over 100 years. The Council advocates for and promotes a market-driven, competitively structured industry that will benefit harvesters, processers, and workers and make a net contribution to Canada’s economy. The FCC supports responsible fishing, stewardship of the resource, and sustainability of Canada’s fish and seafood.
FCC is seeking a seasoned **President** to advocate for and shape the future of Canada’s seafood sector.
**The Opportunity**
Based in Ottawa, this is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a proven track record in government relations and strategic advocacy to lead Canada’s commercial seafood industry. As President, you will be the leading voice for the industry, shaping national policies, building relationships at the highest levels of government, and ensuring the interests of our members are represented effectively.
The President is responsible for the implementation of the FCC’s strategic plan, leading advocacy efforts with key stakeholders, including Ministers, Parliamentary committees, and senior government officials. You will engage directly with policymakers, advocate for effective fisheries management, and influence decisions that impact the seafood industry both domestically and internationally.
You will oversee policy advice on key issues affecting the Canadian seafood industry, including DFO priorities, federal budgets, labor policies, marine protections, and international issues like trade and market access. You will also work closely with a passionate Board of Directors and a committed team, managing all operational aspects of the organization.
**Who You Are**
**Qualifications**
- University degree in a related field and substantial experience in policy development and advocacy.
- Proven experience as a registered lobbyist, with a demonstrated ability to navigate government relations at the highest levels.
- At least five years of progressive management experience
Salary Range: $200,000 - $225,000 per year.
