**About this position**:
The Sales and Event Specialist reports to the Manager, Events and Client Success and is responsible for day to day activities of all events hosted in Studio Bell, both with third party clients and internal departments. This position assists in planning, preparation, implementation, execution and evaluation of each event hosted at Studio Bell. This role understands the importance of National Music Centre’s primary charitable objectives and exercises good judgement to ensure balance between internal programming needs and revenue generation through third party events.

**Responsibilities**:
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Building and maintaining strong relationships with corporate clients, event planners, internal partners, and suppliers to ensure the ongoing viability of NMC’s venue rental and internal events programs
- Working with a team of part-time staff to deliver events at Studio Bell; scheduling cleaners, security, and volunteers to ensure the successful delivery of events
- Liaising with NMC teams to coordinate use of the various spaces at Studio Bell, including coordinating box office, volunteer, tech and staffing requirements for events
- Implementing strategies to generate increased sales for venue rentals through new partnerships and client retention
- Responding to incoming queries regarding venue rentals and following-up on client leads
- Meeting with potential and existing clients, sponsors and NMC partners to determine and coordinate their event needs
- Initiate post-event follow-up
- Proactively target market segments and manage accounts and assist in the development and delivery of marketing materials to promote venue rentals
- Upsell product through the planning process to maximize revenue opportunity
- Coordinating contracts, invoicing and payment with the Finance department
- Liaising with NMC’s preferred caterers and other third party suppliers
- Administration and support of NMC’s internal event management software
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- Have 3 years corporate sales, event, or programming experience
- Have experience coordinating large-scale events
- Have proficiency with Excel and Word, and have experience with event management software
- Demonstrate exceptional customer service, inter-personal and problem-solving skills
- Be enthusiastic and self-motivated, work well independently and be quick to take initiative
- Have strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Be able to multitask and manage time wisely
- Work well independently and be able to work with a diverse team of staff, suppliers, and volunteers
- Have strong communication skills and think quickly on their feet
- Understand that being receptive to our clients and their needs is paramount
- Be willing to work to a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Be passionate about music, and enjoy engaging with people from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives
- Experience in a non-profit, music, or museum setting is an asset
- Ability to speak French is an asset
