**JOB SUMMARY**:
In this dynamic, fast-paced environment, the **Quality / Inspection Supervisor** is responsible for supervising employees and overseeing certification testing and inspection processes to ensure our products are compliant, while also meeting customer expectations of quality. Reporting to the Director, Manufacturing, this position participates in root casual analysis and process improvement for internal and external quality issues.
**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provide leadership and develop FPI employees in a manner consistent with FPI mission and guiding principles; ensuring employees have the tools and environment to meet their objectives, remain effective and feel appreciated
- Lead, manage and maintain a positive environment focusing on Lean Manufacturing strategies and continuous improvement initiatives
- Supervise employees in a manufacturing/production union environment
- Ensure all certification testing and inspections are done in compliance with our certification body’s requirements.
- Ensure inspection department performs the necessary internal inspections required to maintain our customer’s expectations of quality.
- Work with production supervision and purchasing to efficiently process all non-conformances and DMR’s
- Work with technical services to efficiently process product returns, reworks, and RMA’s
- Ensure all shop floor testing equipment is calibrated according to the certification requirements
- Continuously improve our inspection process to improve our quality metrics
- Participate in root cause analysis and process improvement for any product quality issues discovered both internally and externally
- Work order reporting and maintenance on a daily basis
- Training and performance measurement of new and existing employees
- Work cell / Assembly line balancing, Standardized Work and cross training of employees
- Maintain professional business relationships across all departments to create an efficient information channel; share information and keep other informed of important developments
- Implementation and training of Health & Safety programs to ensure compliance with regulations; set a positive example by following regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and maintaining hazard awareness
- Deal with union related issues when required
- Involvement with product introduction to shop floor / assembly lines
- Maintain a current knowledge of product, design and assembly techniques
- Coordinate workflow with other departments and shifts
- Assist with and support team projects and duties as required
**QUALIFICATIONS & SPECIFICATIONS**:
- **Abilities/Skills/Knowledge**_
- Effective organizational, prioritization and time management skills
- Ability to take initiative and follow through until completion
- Strong communication skills in English (both written and verbal)
- Ability to develop and maintain good working relationship with management and employees
- Demonstrated experience developing effective teams
- Knowledge of Quality Control/Management procedures, relevant regulatory/legal standards
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001 is an asset
- **Education/Training**_
- Minimum High School Graduate or equivalent
- Courses in Operations Management, Supervision, Leadership or related an asset
- Lean Manufacturing training preferred
- **Experience**_
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Supervision in a Manufacturing/Production environment (or equivalent combination of education, training & experience)
- Previous experience with Quality Control/Management in a manufacturing environment
- Previous experience working in a union environment would be an asset
- Experience with Lean concepts, team building and continuous improvement tools
